What is a Continuum of Care?

A Continuum of Care (often abbreviated as CoC) is a coordinated system of homeless services aimed at preventing and ending homelessness. The US Department of Housing and Urban Development created the model in the 1990’s in response to new homelessness assistance legislation.

Communities across the nation have since developed inter-agency organizations around the model to promote collaboration among service providers, businesses, and local municipalities. The Manchester Continuum of Care (MCoC) unifies efforts in the community to prevent and end homelessness.
