On September 22nd The Way Home, along with the support of Motorcycles of Manchester (MoMs) and the Manchester Motorcycle Club (MMC), ran their first Veterans Ride Home, a motorcycle poker run to benefit our Laurel Keys building. The run consisted of motorcyclist leaving from MoMs in a group, lead by the MMC and making several stops to collect playing cards to build a poker hand. The two hour ride ended at MoMs with a barbeque. There was also a 50/50 raffle including four Red Sox tickets, as well as t-shirts for sale.
Through the effort of our staff and volunteers it was a ringing success. We had 45 riders, several passengers, generous sponsors, and several cash donations. We even had our executive director, Mary Sliney, on the back of a bike riding the run! All together we raised $2554 from registration, donations, t-shirt sales, and raffles. We are very proud of the work we did and the money we raised for Laurel Keys, our permanent supportive housing for veterans.
We couldn’t have done it without the support of our sponsors and volunteers!
